Mt. Saint Helena

Went hiking in Calistoga a few weeks ago, on Mt. Saint Helena. Crazy trails, Amazing views! The terrain there actually reminded me a lot of Yosemite. And the best part of hiking in Calistoga? Soaking in the hot springs afterwards. Ahhhhh. See if you can spot the hummingbird in this picture (he wasn't all that obliging about posing for me).

Oh! Oh! Put down the Neosporin! When I cut off the top of my foot surfing a few years ago, the plastic surgeon told me never to put it on anything that wasn't actually infected. Apparently Neosporin's a really powerful antibiotic (I also found that out when I needed a prescription for it in South Africa) and can profoundly irritate non-infected skin. The guy was one of the first surgeons to reattach a hand, so he knows what he's talking about.

There is my PSA for the day.

Other than that, I've been soaking my horrible blisters in salt water and dousing them in peroxide. They're still hideous, but not infected.

Sigh. Stupid shoes.

Enough of that...Calistoga is awesome! Were there lots of hippies sitting around naked in the hot springs?
